Tiffany Liu
Music Director
Tiffany Liu is about to enter her second year of college and continues to embrace and develop her love for both her cultures. Her love for Chinese culture began at the age of eight, when she had attended a cousin’s Guzheng performance and instantly fell in love with the instrument. Since then, she has not looked back.
Through persistence and resilience, Tiffany still continues to study Guzheng. However, paths are never completely smooth. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted her learning period. There were many times where it was physically and mentally draining to get back into learning. After two years, with encouragement, support, and the right contributions, her drive reignited; a passion was developed. She believes that nothing truly comes easy, it takes genuine willingness and persistence to learn. Mistakes may happen, but they should never be the reason to discourage you from stopping something you love.
Today, Tiffany has been regularly and voluntarily performing Guzheng across the Bay Area for preschools, high schools, libraries, fine dining restaurants, coffee shops, theaters, Lunar New year events, and more! She recently became a Guzheng teacher at her local music school; she finds this deeply rewarding. Performing for communities is what drives her; Tiffany’s passion for Guzheng only grew over time. She enjoys sharing music with various communities and believes that music is a universal language that bridges communities and generations together.
In addition to her Chinese background, Tiffany is also proud to share her Vietnamese culture. At the start of her senior year in high school, she made it her goal to open the first Vietnamese Culture Club! The club flourished and shared many traditions through food, storytelling, holidays, cultural customs, and collaborated with many other Asian culture clubs to celebrate diversity on campus. In addition, her spare time consists of handmade crafts. She enjoys working with wires, beads, and charms to create bag charms/keychains– a hobby she hopes to turn into a small business one day.
